Le Relais de Barbizon
Gastronomic restaurant specialising in fish and seafood. Shaded terrasse under lime trees.
Description
Le Relais de Barbizon at 2 Avenue du General de Gaulle is the village's flagship gastronomic address. Breton chef Mickael Briens has led the kitchen since 2008, with a focus on fish, shellfish and seafood. Langoustines, sole meuniere, Saint-Jacques -- produce sourced from Rungis twice weekly. Shaded terrasse for summer, fireplace for winter. Open Thursday to Monday.
Historical context
Chef Mickael Briens arrived from the coasts of Armor via Saint-Tropez and Courchevel. His cooking carries the salt air of Brittany into the heart of the forest -- an unlikely and entirely successful combination. The Relais also operates a boutique at 79 Grande Rue selling prepared dishes, fine groceries, Petrossian caviar and the house signature truffle oil mashed potato to take home.
